About Venture Capital (New Ventures)

Companies globally are getting disrupted by technology and shifts in business models. There is an urgent need for them to be developing new revenue streams and new businesses. To address this, the EDB New Ventures team is fuelling the drive towards corporate venture building and new venture creation here in Singapore.


At EDB Venture Capital, the team identifies opportunities for new venture creation in Singapore and enables such opportunities through joint ideation and incubation, and selective co-investments with strategic corporate partners, with the aim of creating new corporate ventures anchored in Singapore. We leverage EDB’s local and global network to scout and identify investment opportunities, and ares set up to drive the end-to-end process from origination, due diligence, structuring, investment closing and value creation post-investment.


We are looking for a Senior Manager/ Assistant Vice President to lead the identification and evaluation of investment opportunities, conduct the necessary due diligence, structure the investment and manage the execution of the legal documentation. This candidate must have financial background and be competent in financial analysis and modelling , with prior investment transaction experience.


Key responsibilities include:

·       Identifying potential investment opportunities based on EDB networks, and/or based on the scoping out of target investment domains. This may include working with other divisions within EDB, and/or supporting senior members of the Venture Capital team in client development

·       Leading in-depth due diligence for prospective ventures, which includes but is not limited to analysing prospective ventures’ financial performance and projections, commercial viability, technical feasibility, and management

·       Building and reviewing financial models (including valuation and returns models) for target ventures

·       Recommending deal terms, and supporting negotiation of such terms with the prospective ventures

·       Preparing the necessary documents and presentations for review and investment approval by the investment committee

·       Recommending and supporting the execution of our value creation strategy for prospective/ portfolio ventures, as well as portfolio management and review efforts

As the candidate gains more investment experience, there will be opportunities to develop leadership, business development and client engagement skills.

To meet the challenges of this role, you must:

·       Have a strong interest in innovation, venture creation and investments

·       Have at least 6 years of working experience with at least 1-2 years of direct experience in venture capital, private equity, corporate finance, M&A or investment banking

·       Have prior investment transactions experience or start-up experience would be advantageous

·       Demonstrate good business acumen in understanding clients’/ partners’ jobs to be done, coupled with strong financial modelling and analysis skills

·       Be proactive, with a high level of resourcefulness to drive new initiatives and projects – this includes having strong organisational, time management and multi-tasking skills

·       Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills; and be able to engage internal and external stakeholders effectively

·       Have the ability to lead deals and at the same time, be a strong team player

·       Be Singaporean
